What is physical beauty?

It amazes me to hear men and women compare the "beauty" of high profile celebrities. I am talking specifically about plastic surgery and makeup. We always talk about a movie star's superior looks when she is in heavy makeup, wearing hair attachments, accessorized to detail and surgically enhanced. Then one day we see her in her unretouched stark self and usually find she is plain or worse ugly! Why are people attracted to unnatural features in the first place? Women want perfect physical symmetry that no human (or animal) has. Perhaps we are out of touch with reality or possess a form of human self-loathing for both admirer and the admired. Is not that craving of perfect physical alignment in itself unnatural?
